Production Notebook October 2004-April 2006
We began this project after completing an 8-minute fundraising piece for the International Book Project. Kiley and I were fascinated by Mrs. Van Meter's drive and dedication and we approached KET about a grant to help create a documentary about her life. Kiley's grant came through literally the moment she was leaving Lexington for an extended stay in Telluride-so she did quite a bit of bouncing back and forth from Kentucky to Colorado. The program was shot mostly in 24p, rough edited on Final Cut and finished uncompressed in the Accom Affinity. Chris McElhone, Erica Thomas, Ben Kuchera and Alison Freels filled out the production team. Charley Pallos added the title sequence and Kinny Landrum added the original music.
